Certified Action Theater teacher Rachel Cohen is offering in-person classes in the practice for all levels. Learn or hone improvisation skills through playful, thoughtful exercises excavating movement, sound, and spoken language, solo and in relation to partners.

Action Theater improvisation offers tools to performers and non-performers to (choose from the following options):

-deepen our understanding and engagement of our bodies and voices, anchoring our experience in the body as well as the mind

-persuade us to relish the present moment

-increase availability of the imagination

-hone craft through awareness of space, time, and form

-maintain a strong sense of self while remaining open to others

-shake up old patterns and discover new pathways

-build resilience in responding to changing situations

-change our relationship to the judging mind

From past workshops:

"There was a kind of magic in how it all unfolded—grounded, yet wildly open."

"It was certainly an eye opening experience for me, to get to know the movement of my body and how it is able to do with and without the mind."

"Rachel’s clear and supportive teaching created a space where I felt safe to explore and take risks."
